Watching the first part of the BBC mini series Dracula that was on over New Year, so far seems not bad.
I watched the whole series last week and also think it's not bad. Sometimes interesting. I like the character of Dracula: sarcastic, ironic, very well played.
On the contrary, Van Helsing is a dissapointing role.

Part 3 was ludicrous, after a promising start it went totally off the rails, i didn't even make it to the end as i couldn't take it. Yes Van Helsing was an idiot and the person that played the nun didn't seem right for the role. But yeah the guy playing Dracula was very good. Spoke more then Christopher Lee lol
I started watching James May's "Our Man in Japan", for light hearted humour with the long haired ponce from Top Gear, or should I say "Grand Tour" these days, it's pretty good :))
WOW! I just finished series 4 of The Expanse. For me it just gets better and better. I really enjoyed it.
I just finished season 4 last night. It's an awesome series and WAY better SCI-FI than Star Trek and Star Wars can muster. Really looking forward to season 5.

I concur. The first episode was great, and the second was very good. The cliffhanger going into ep 3 was good, but pretty much immediately gave way to a dreary story and vague and silly ending. They were desperate to give a twist to Dracula, and really scraped the barrel.
Don't F*** With Cats on Netflix. Documentary on catching an Internet killer. 1.5 episodes in and I've had to stop for the night as it's too intense. It's so crazy that if the story behind it was a movie it would be laughable.

It does look like they've upped the ante with Picard. It looks much more trekkie than "the show that has a girl with man's name, just because all the blue haired **** keep complaining about male heroes" Discovery.

I can't get enough of it so I'm having to read the books.
Oh No! You guys are making me need to watch The Expanse :-O
As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I got the Season 1 box set ages ago upon recommendation and I thought it was good, but a bit of a slow-burner. I had tried to get get my wife to watch it with me but she gradually lost interest (or didn't put in enough effort to pay attention!), so we only got three-quarters through the series.
I must say the world-building was very promising and if they've managed to keep that up - and by the sound of what you're all saying - the show has also maintained an upward curve, I really feel like I should be watching it!
Trouble is, I've got over than 3 series to catch up on - who's got time for that...? :((

Well, TBH, season 1 didn't really grab my attention either, but somewhere in season 2 I got totally hooked, so it definitely improves (imho).
Did anyone else catch the first ep of Avenue 5 last night? I was flicking through the schedules and the combination of "sci fi comedy" and "Hugh Laurie" caught my eye. I rarely watch much modern TV (only just started watching Stranger Things), but it seemed pretty good.
Has anyone seen Star Trek Discovery? It's been on E4 and i've recorded about 6 or 7 episodes but not watched any yet, it got terrible reviews but i liked Star Trek since TNG and want to see what it's like. With it being on E4 i'm not sure the ratings have been great as it would usually be on a flagship channel such as Sky One.
Think i might have answered my own question :))
I loved the original Star Trek, still do, but I absolutely f*cking hated The Next Generation, it was b*llocks!....and the same b*llshit idealology is spilling over into that crap that is Picard, preaching to the fans about sh*t they probably don't care about! But then again I also thought Deep Space 9 or whatever it was called was crap as well.
But I'm one of the 6 people on the entire planet that liked Enterprise, even though that was preachy and shite as well.....I'd like to say I like Star Wars more, but that's terrible these days as well :))
Sci-Fi as we know it has been invaded by people who 30 years ago would've laughed at you for watching it, but now it's "cool" to pretend you're a nerd to hide an otherwise sinister agenda.....Look at D&D as an example, you've got grim looking fat blue haired women making vids about "It's not just for beardy nerds it's for everyone"...….I'm thinking to myself. OK But the D&D kids I knew growing up, or any RPG types would literally have been ecstatic if any girls wanted to join in back then, now we have these girls saying "we've always been into it, men stopped us from playing", absolute f*cking lies in my eyes, and the same goes for Sci-Fi, and Fantasy type TV shows...…..Agendas sell these days...
Just started watching the new series of 'The Rookie' with nathan fillion. For me he never dissapoints in a light hearted, humorous way. Basicaly doing what he's done in Firefly, Serenity and Castle but as a cop this time.
Also watched Netflix's 6 Undergound - bloody hell, they really threw the kitchen sink at this one - hope they make a sequel cos I really enjoyed it.
Glad people like the EXPANSE as I don't really think it got the traction / attention on the SCIFI channel that it deserved. As I stated in an earlier post, I beleive it's the best SCI FI out there.
As brilliant as The Expanse is (and I agree, it's the best sci-fi show currently out there and in the future I think it will be regarded as an all-time classic) there's one thing I just don't like about it - the accents/language of the Belters. It just sounds like they're badly acting, and that certainly ain't the case when you've got someone as triple-A quality an actor as Jared Harris in the mix.
Latest season Chrisjen's potty mouth is hilarious! Every sentence contains an f-bomb.
Can't agree with you about Deep Space 9 Boozy, I thought it was excellent but I do agree with you about Enterprise, would happily watch that all over again especially as I missed the first few episodes so didnt see what happens to Florida(?). Did the aliens use that bizarre weapon against Earth?
You're absolutely right in your summation of how suddenly sci-fi is for the 'in crowd' . Hell it used to be a badge of ones intelligence/weirdness that you read sci-fi books. I remember my mum snorting "its nonsense dear, dont waste your time reading that rubbish". She went pretty quiet after the space race started though.
When I brought the Spectrum round to their house to demonstrate what it could do, they were absolutely blown away especially since my six year old niece took to it like a duck to water. After a couple of hours she was well on the way to getting simple Basic down after I showed her how to get it to recognize her name when it was typed in. It was like being a super hero! Cor, those were the days.
Whereas I used to have to fight my Dad to get my hands on my Eagle first before he nicked it and went off to work with it hidden inside his Financial Times to read Dan Dare on the train. Brilliant artwork even if the stories were sometimes a bit "chocks away chaps" thinly disguised Biggles type tales, mind you I liked that stuff too.
Finished Don't F*** With Cats last night and it was really good - that **** Magnotta has to be the most self-centred, narcissistic ass'ole I've ever witnessed. If you enjoy the Netflix true-crime stuff then it's well worth a watch.
Unfortunately though I let my morbid curiosity get the better of me and looked up his final video. Don't be a moron like me; it's completely and utterly NSFL and I only managed about 30 seconds of flicked-through footage before I had to close the browser.
Enterprise was my least favourite of the franchise, i watched half of the first series and gave up, just couldn't get into. I think my favourite is Voyager if only for the lovely Jeri 'Seven of nine' Ryan. Wow! :))

I still get unfulfilled pangs of nostalgia whenever Firefly/Serenity is mentioned... :(
I know it's the most infamous "unfairly axed, but universally popular" series ever, but I still think it's a travesty it lasted such a short time. It had humour, warmth, humility, friendship, action, thrills, and all wrapped up in a future SciFi Western aesthetic, with great potential for future storylines. What more could you want?
Hmmm, time to dig out those DVDs and introduce my kids, so I can watch again!
Game of thrones has been added to Sky Boxsets again so i'm watching from episode 1.
Currently on episode 3 of season 1, all the actors looks so young :))
You should see him now he's even worse, always wears big coats to hide his belly.
He's also got this ridiculous black beard and ponytail, very obviously dyed. He looks like Fu Mancho :))
I loved this when it was first broadcast, but up until recently I could only find the 2.5 hour TV movie adaptation, which I think was basically the series cut down into something that made no sense at all. Somebody at work mentioned Roots, which is a really brutal and sad show, so I told him to check out Shogun if he could find it.
So I thought I'd look for it myself, looks like my favourite sketchy eastern European streaming site has it to watch, so I watched the first 2 hours last night. Not gonna watch too much tonight though as I have to up at about 5 or 6am because I have a managers meeting at work at 7am.....Which will suck, but ce la vie :))

I remember that being the first Segal movie where he noticeably spends half of the entire film hiding his massive gut.
