    I use OBS Studio

Yeah, good suggestion! I totally forgot about OBS. It's pretty good and also makes fairly small file sizes. Here's a vid I recorded from PSO gameplay back in 2017, I just captured all audio from the computer so the background music came from some retrogaming internet radio. No talking I'm afraid so you won't be able to listen to me swearing with a krautish accent :P

Before that I used a rather old version of Fraps, but it made huge files. No idea if it's better these days.

Well if you upload something, you also need to talk over it so we can hear a proper Geordie rant.

I especially liked SFA3 on the Saturn (due to the great controller that just has the perfect button layout for SF games), but when it comes to consistency I think the SNES D-Pad is the best. I noticed when playing any of the older SF games, my specials tend to be much more reliable on the SNES. I drop a lot more combos on other controllers, but that's also because the later games are a bit more strict with combo timings. Never fancied practicing stuff like "1 frame links".

Ah, good old Raging Demon eh. Once I played a friend and he tried to do it on me, and purely by accident I threw him as he was approaching, he couldn't believe it :))

We really should play each other before we shuffle off our mortal coils.

I have no idea how we would actually play each other? Let's see? Mednafen has netplay, and I did know how to do it at one point a few years back, but I've forgotten now, but that would put the Saturn SFA games on the table. Other than that I have SSF2 HD edition for PS3, which if you ask me was a bit sh*t tbh, but would work for 2 player, and Super SFIV for PS3, which is fun, but I have no idea if SSFIV is still online?

Unless you wanna go SNK or Midway? :))

I have Samurai Showdown VI, KOF 2000, Garou Mark of the Wolves, or Mortal Kombat XL on PS4.....Although to be fair they're not Street Fighter, and I haven't really played any of them much in a while, as well...….they're not Street Fighter :))

Gonna play the rather comprehensive, but admittedly broken SFA3 Max for PSP, it's got the most characters in any of the Alpha 3 redux's, but it's potentially the worst of the lot :))

Could record my exploits but missus Boozy is back from her trip, and in bed, so no commentary again.....Don't want to incur the wrath :))

EDIT: Ergh! Is it me or does Eagle, even though he's an original Street Fighter character look totally out of place in this game?......Also Ingrid or whatever she's called, is it me? Or does she look more like an SNK character than a Capcom one? Ergh! Totally out of place, and she's a sh*tty Karin clone basically, and Karin was one of the worst additions to SFA3 anyway....

I've always said SFA2 was my fave Street Fighter game, as I always liked the well not strictly non linear gameplay, but like if you reach a certain criteria within the first few fights you fight a mid boss, like for instance you play as Ryu, you do well in the first few fights, you then fight Sakura, and at the end of the game you fight Akuma/Gouki. Or say Ken you know you do good you fight Dan ( :)) ), and at the end you fight Ryu.

SFA3 with it's massive roster still has the dull old SF2 thing going on, you'll maybe never fight the same characters on every playthrough, but you know much like SF2 you're gonna end up fighting stupidly overpowered cheap Bison at the end, which is not fun with a feeb character like Karin, Cody, or Rainbow Mika, SFA2 kind of put you against a final boss that suited the character you were playing as, or at least fitted in with the narrative. To me SFA3 was totally about the vs. mode, as the single player mode is a bit crap...

  • Copying 36GB worth of PS1 stuff from my old PC at the minute, having mass trouble recording stuff for the Saturn, so hopefully I can get the PS1 recordings working better....

I'm not sure how easy it is to setup netplay these days, sadly I don't have any of the consoles you mention, I'm a PC player nowadays. The last console I bought was a Gamecube. Guess something on emulators will be our best bet, but I'll have to check what options I have because last time I tried, a few of my older emulators won't work anymore on my current Windows 10 installation.

Back in the early to Mid 2000s, I used to play on either the MAME or WinKawaks (and more rarely on FinalBurnAlpha and NeoRage) emulators and both utilized "kaillera", so it certainly was always a bit laggy, but nevertheless I remember having some fun games. I remember some guy from Austria who I also talked with using MSN back then while we were playing, I always heard loud keyboard noises because he actually played the games on keys, but he was quite good.

I had heard of the GGPO technology that emerged later and apparently was a lot less laggy, but I never experienced it as by that time I'd lost interest in playing fighting games online. One reason for that was not having decent controllers anymore - my Saturn controllers were falling apart, becoming less responsive so I just slowly drifted away from it all, what with not being too fussed about it to investigate alternatives on online marketplaces, because in shops you could (and still can) only buy "standard" layout controllers which are like PS3/Xbox 360 controllers, which I'd rather not use when it comes to fighting games. And I don't think I'll ever get used to sticks.

I've picked up the Hori Fighting Commander controller recently which is quite nice.

    Edit:
After googling around a bit, I think https://www.fightcade.com/ might be what we're looking for. I've heard about this before but never actually tried it, will now.
