  • You know civilization has hit rock bottom when people need instructions on how to wash your hands.
  • Ha, there are a whole bunch of blokes at work (before the crisis) that really needed those instructions, after going to the bog!
    Sod it!

    Why do other people need to know how to wash *your* hands ;)

    I think this fake or overhyped ‘corona’ must be ruining the brains for self-reflections and so many still unanswered questions.
    You asked for my logic, so I explained that *some* pieces (including EVENT 201) may too nicely fit the picture and I would be glad to hear what you think about it too, if anything;
    You asked for the sources, here you are--and yours?
    You wanted proofs and it’s ok, but when I want proofs it a big no-no. Nice No hurt implied.
    1) Any proofs that "covid-10" is natural?
    2) Any evidences it's a real pandemic?
    3) How come “Event 201” has little to nothing to do with “covid”?

    Indeed, no shyer wants to be frightened to death learning they are but CD rats, not to mention big people seem not really care about the truth and their people, so let’s pretend it to be just another weird coincidence) Far too many though.
    No one dies before his time.

    * Nevertheless, even if there were “illuminati” and “conspirators” for real, I believe they are still doing us a favor--like challenges make us wiser and stronger or like pests and parasites stimulate our immunity. When will be the next time you could spend as you wish? Go figure.

    Yes, I grant what NRA says about conspiracy theories is right - they do push us to think in order to refute them, one doesn't have to think that hard sometimes.

    So we will all get our notebooks out (ATTENTION!) and make notes of all the theories buzzing around just now, and then be careful not to believe them, then we will put a tick beside it everytime we see it again in the next ten years. ;-)

    I really have learnt a bit I admit about how a virus (an attenuated strain) differs from a virus arising in nature, and how they can discover this difference by examining the Genome.

    I just think its largely the complexities and various groups in society pulling in different directions that makes things worse, we don't need to add fictitious theories and spins to that. There is enough going on.

    But here is one of the problems with regard to conspiracy theories. They can do damage a topic that does require further research, such that it become difficult if there is something to say on it that needs to be listened to, because you find it harder to be taken seriously. There may yet need to be more research done on 5G for instance, even if it doesn't find anything, but now legitimate researcher may have much harder time getting legitimate research taken with enough seriousness. That is the harm of conspiracy theories.

    NRA you do not know what is going on. Some once said to me "A wise man is someone who knows what he doesn't know." You don't know what is going on I repeat, and this is the bit I would like you to get that does not mean what is going on is sinister OK? It may not be always be handled well. But that is easy for us to say sitting at a keyboard.

    as to 1. Yes up the thread I posted a link. patented 'attenuated' virus strains are a lot less contagious than viruses in nature. The link explained that this virus doesn't have what would be the tell tale signs (evident to those who study a virus's genome) of a virus that has been engineered. It is now settled beyond all reasonable doubt that it was not an invented virus.

    In answer to 2, depends how do you define pandemic doesn't? Its spreading across national borders. It seems to be epidemic level in several countries, with a higher number of seasonal deaths than the average.

    OK?

    You can go and read the published literature at your leisure, it's not up to everyone else to waste their time doing research for you.
    Maybe you aren't debating in bad-faith (which I doubt based on what seem to be snarky veiled asides, but I can't understand half of what you post so who knows) but you should know that this is a common troll behaviour of making contrary claims to cause everyone else to waste their time debunking them.
    Whether it's anti vaxxers, flat earthers, moon landing/NASA hoax-ers, it's the same pattern time and time again.
  • Is this NRA a new nutjob or is it CornishDavey in a new disguise ?

    Somewhere out there on a conspiracy nutjob forum theres a user posting non stop stuff about Speccy's and 8 bit stuff and people are saying to him 'why join this forum ? ' ;)
  • I only hope the anti-vaccines guys have learnt an important lesson these days...

    It's almost like some of those people I see in the supermarket nowadays. Take all their kids with them, don't do distancing to anybody else, and let their kids roam the supermarkets too.

    Maybe it's time they put a sign with 'Dogs and Kids stay outside' or something ;)

    Anyway, I'll try visit a different supermarket from now on. It's just too dangerous in the one I'm normally visiting.

    At what time are you usually visiting? Try evening if possible. My local Aldi is open until 9 pm so nowadays I just go once a week at about 8.15 pm, so it is pretty empty by then.

    With the seasonal flu-like death tolls blown out as 2.2% and now 5.7% mixed “corona” mortality rate, the global order to halt the economics and stay at home as no-breadwinners--without specific and verifiable information is very-very questionable, if not unreasonable (or planned).

    So, the major issue is theories distract people and require too much time and efforts, scarring the nation? Let’s check a few definitions of terrorism first.
    The systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion. (Merriam-Webster)
    The unlawful use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims. (Google)
    1. The use of violence or of the threat of violence in the pursuit of political, religious, ideological or social objectives;
    2. Acts committed by non-state actors (or by undercover personnel serving on the behalf of their respective governments);
    3. Acts reaching more than the immediate target victims and also directed at targets consisting of a larger spectrum of society;
    4. Both mala prohibita (i.e., crime that is made illegal by legislation) and mala in se (i.e., crime that is inherently immoral or wrong); (Wikipedia)
    or any other.
    And now compare it to the “quarantine” and its aftermath, rings the bell? That’ s ok.

    Thanks for the help. I normally go to supermarkets late as well, but by then they don't have bread any more. Perhaps I should go for bread that I can keep a long time instead. :) Still, I'm not going to my current supermarket for now.

    Timmy, I also prefer small shops and use home delivery sometimes, yet I prefer to do it before the noon for better variety of food. Not long ago a neighbor's teen came and offered to go shopping for me (except alcohol) and asking for $5.

    It's a good deal for those very shy)

    Right, really really tired of bullsh1t comments about fake virus and conspiracy theories.

    Just found out that a guy I worked with for almost 10 years and a friend for a lot longer has died of the Coronavirus, he had no underlying conditions and was in his mid 50's.
    He's being cremated tomorrow with no mourners allowed.

    This sh|t is real.

    Rich, my condolences.

    First, people don’t die of viruses, but rather of consequences and complications of disease—did he died of total bilateral viral pneumonia or comorbids?
    Second, there’s a dozen of viruses in our body living peacefully, so we should tell “dies of something” and “died with something”.
    Third, my uncle said he knew a woman over 70 who died after long-treated leukemia, but was diagnosed to have one of a hundred types of “corona”, so her relatives preferred the latter in order to get compensation.

    My condolences mate, this is what scares me is that young seemingly healthy people are starting to pass away. I too am getting sick and tired of this bullshit conspiracy theories. This is a virus this was transmitted from an animal to a person that either consumed or handled the said animal (possibly both).
    A woman from my work who was 56 and i've known for 5 years but had no underlying issues lies in ICU and it's touch and go whether they make it. I'm really going to lose it. Just lock this **** thread now.

    Take a picture sometime and show us on the forums. I would have thought no more than four or five steps are needed to explain this complex art of handwashing adequately. ;-) Anyway the chart is just there its not actually doing you any harm is it? But some people do forget to wash their hands.

    I have found beside a small newsagent that also sell groceries ,that the local LIDL is not that busy in the evenings (though I cannot say what that store will be like in other cities) they also seem to be well organised with about four big round stickers on the floor leading to each checkout giving indication were to stand. The checkout conveyor belts are also about 8 foot long which means you don't have to wait till until the customer before you is completely away before unloading your basket. Staff also have visors and there is a perspex screen between staff and customer, its maybe more than is necessary, but favorably impressed with our local branch and how they got all that stuff implemented. :-)

But people do forget to wash their hands, this novel coronavirus they are saying is more throat based virus, rather than lungs, it seems to be more contagious than the first SARS outbreak, but not as deadly - but we will know that for sure once the randomised tests of healthy people and sick people are done.

    No chance. The work is closed and no access allowed. I'm working from home.

    Sh*t Rich genuinely sorry to hear this :(

    Hope you're doing OK, I can't imagine how hard it must be for your friends family, and since this all came about I'm dreading hearing similar news from back home....I'm living by the philosophy of no news is good news these days :(

    Hope you're staying safe, and taking all the precautions we need to, I know you're not the youngest WOSser on here, and I'm not taking the p*ss there with a "Karingal is ancient", type joke I'm showing genuine concern, I know we've bantered in the past about all kinds of stupid irrelevant sh*t, but things actually got kind of scary, like actually scary, and I hope you and your family are safe and well, and I hope we can continue to banter for many years to come :)

  • Sorry to hear that Rich, just try and keep the old stiff upper lip, eh? Its a time bomb like situation and I'm pretty worried about a friend of mine who is insisting on going off to see her family in PA. I told her son to hide the car keys.

    My sincerest condolences Mr C. Raise a glass to him and remember all the times you shared both good and bad and smile just a little at those recollections.

    I too am getting a little tired of the **** stirrers and their crackpot theories and for the first time in my life I am genuinely afraid.
    Not so much for myself as for my wife who is seventy and medically high risk. When we married part of the vows I took were to keep her in sickness and in health which I have managed to do over the years but now for the first time I'm so bloody helpless and should she be unfortunate enough to be struck down the best I will be able for her is to stand behind a pane of glass looking helplessly on as so many others have had to do unable to comfort the ones they love.

    To all the decent fair minded normal human beings here I send all my hopes and best wishes to you and those you love, especially those still having to work away from home, as for the others go f@$k yourselves,and if that offends you tough I make no apologies.

    My one and only post on the matter.

    Take care lads.
