PRESS RELEASE
Iconic bass player Pete Way founder of UFO, Waysted and, latterly, The Pete Way Band has died.
He sustained life threatening injuries in an accident two months ago but fought hard until finally succumbing to those injuries at 11.35am BST today. His wife, Jenny, was at his side.
Pete Way was a much loved and highly regarded figure among rock fans, critics and fellow musicians alike. Best known for his work with UFO, Pete’s energetic live performances were at the heart of the band’s countless world tours. His melodic bass lines underpinned the catalogue of enduring rock classics upon which UFO’s reputation and legacy were founded. Pete’s post UFO work included collaborating with “Fast” Eddie Clarke from Motörhead - the two putting together Fastway with Humble Pie drummer Jerry Shirley and bassist for his long time friend, Ozzy Osbourne. He then put together his own band Waysted. Pete’s keen ear for song arrangements have also seen him serve as producer for popular hard rock acts such as Twisted Sister and the Cockney Rejects. Pete had recently finished a solo album, “Walking On The Edge” with producer Mike Clink (Guns n Roses “Appetite For Destruction” amongst many more.) He had a biography published “A Fast Ride Out Of Here” in 2017 and an album “Amphetamine” which is currently out on Cargo Records.
Pete is survived by two daughters, Zowie and Charlotte and his younger brother, Neill.

Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

Just found out another old punk died 4 days ago too
Bassist Andy griffiths of "The Wall"
To all Griffs lovely friends who have been with us in spirit throughout his battle with pancreatic cancer,
Griff passed away on Sunday morning on August 16th having outlived his prognosis with his ****-off tumours by 7 months. He died at home after 3 weeks of great struggle and stoicism. He never complained and always said “we are doing the best we can”.
He was a true friend, an inspirational teacher, the best dad in the world, mischievous and clever and a font of inane facts. He was brilliant in so many aspects of his life: music, art, sailing, surfing, creating a beautiful home for Grace and me. He was dearly loved by everyone he knew. Life without Griff is unimaginable but he leaves a legacy of infinite memories of laughter and singing and joy. He would be chuffed to know he died on the same day as Elvis and Aretha Franklin.
His last wish is that you all raise awareness about Pancreatic cancer because it is the most underfunded cancer for its catastrophic prognosis with a mean survival rate of only 3 months, and the symptoms of which are terrible. Griff loved life and had so many adventures yet to live. Thank you for all your wonderful messages throughout his illness which gave him great pride and joy.
Please raise a glass to your dear friend when you read this, vowing to spread the pancreatic word, giving money to pancreatic research if you can, and above all cherishing his memory, with best wishes from Cath and Grace xxx
