My hits book was a bit confusing on this as it had them under "D" for Davis ( which is of course correct) . I was going to say that "Gimme Some Loving" was a bit of a "slow burner" but I was surprised to see it did in fact get to No 2 in the UK charts . I think this No2 hit has been more enduring than their No1 hits ( but that is a matter of opinion I suppose) . . What a great group and Spencer was the leader .
I remember Cannon and Ball being on opportunity knocks back in the 60's billed as the Harper brothers, came last if memory serves, maybe because Bobby was the straight man and Tommy the funny one back then.
I always have vivid memory of Bobby and Tommy doing a skit at the end of their tv shows where Bobby always lost his braces. Bobby would call out "where's me braces, where's me braces", and Tommy would open his jacket to the camera revealing he had them on. Reason for remembering this was my father wore braces and Bobby's "where's me braces" saying we use to say to him to wind him up. :)) Which usually got the reply of something like "shut up ya daft bugger", or if you was lucky, a clip around the ear. :))
Will all of the 66 world cup team be dead before we win that stupid bloody trophy again? Should we class England's world cup winners as an endangered species?
Although who knows maybe in 2026 they'll win again? Maybe they're like Cicadas and only only come out after 60 years or so.
Anyway R.I.P. Nobby (Is it now politically incorrect to use his name as rhyming slang for hemmorhoids?)...
It’s a slippery slope, I’m scared to talk about films or music I like these days Incase somebody turns up dead :O
I'm feeling that. Been watching some Vicar of Dibleys and I know a lot of the cast were old, but never knew that the actress (actor?) that played Alice died nearly three years ago. :-(
(Clearly I'm not checking this thread regularly enough!)

7 of the starting 11 have gone now :-(. Bobby Moore, Alan Ball, Gordon Banks, Martin Peters, Ray Wilson, Jack Charlton and now Nobby Stiles. So sad.
I heard that Nobby thought the rhyming slang was hilarious, so that's good enough for me to keep using it :-)

I always used 'Farmers' instead of Nobby. As in Farmer Giles.

Shame, he was great. I loved it when he called out frauds and debunked stuff like homeopathic medicine.
