I going to be bold and say he was an average actor as long as you didn't give him a part with an accent. However he did excel as Bond and had a few good films and some classics. But he did have that on screen charisma that is required to become an icon. For me one of the best films he was in was Hell Drivers, he only played a supporting part but the film is a classic of B/W cinema. Highlander is a favourite of mine, again only supporting and The man who would be Kings was a brilliant story with both him and Michael Cane working well together.
Saw The Name Of The Rose yesterday night on Italian RAI 2 TV channel. The fact that I still remember the first time it was shown on TV here in December 1988 testifies to me how brilliant the movie was - although several of the subtle historical references of the book were inevitably lost in translation - and how great Connery's performance as William of Baskerville was.

Hell Drivers was indeed a good 50's film also a small role for David McCallum too.
David MaCallum is now well into his 80's and still working, he looks a lot younger than he really is, hope i look as good as he does if i live that long lol.
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

Re: Connery- While I had heard of Zardov, but don't think I ever seen it. On his Sci-Fi roles which were not many Outland gets overlooked - which was kind of like High Noon in space. Haven't seen it for a while, just looked up a few clips.
Bugger. My other half just mentioned Reginald Perrin last night.

Probably not very woke of me, but i'm a bit old school where people like that are concerned.
In total agreement with you. Should chuck his body down the nearest sewer and let the rats have him, like they should have done with Ian Brady. Show the contempt for him like he showed to those poor women.

Mrs Moggy worked with that evil bastud in the 70's and drank in the same clubs and pubs as him. I once met his father at a working mens club I was playing and found him to be a bit of a cold bugger.
The upheaval he caused up here had to be seen to be believed, tough grown women, mill girls like our lass were angry and scared in equal measure and if us blokes wanted to go for a pint in town we would sometimes get catcalled by said women demanding we sod off home as thanks to an inept police force they could not be sure who the ripper was and as far as they were concerned all men were bastards.

Absolutely agree.
He was also a great actor in other movies too.
