One handed games

Hi All,

I have a child with a broken wrist.....if anyone knows of games that can be played with just up down left right - dropping them into this thread would be much appreciated. He's upset he can't play his switch so I'm hoping to bridge that gap with the Speccy.

Cheers in advance.

Do you still have a Wii? Might be worth getting out Wii Sports if you have.

if Speccy how about text adventures or stuff like Psion's Scrabble, Chess etc. Thinking about it, you might be able to play Splitting Images one handed on a keyboard. It's not like it requires all that rapid up/down/left/right/fire reactions.

  • Point and click adventures.
    Any Trackmania game.

On ZX Spectrum, any game that uses directions+fire using a joystick with trigger or top fire button. Also, any text adventure (they can even played using one finger!).
    I was there, too
An' you know what they said?
Well, some of it was true!
  • Robotron (if you have access to twin sticks).

Eugene Jarvis created the twin stick shooter control method because he'd broken his wrist and found he couldn't play Berzerk.
  • Just realised the obvious - PacMan type games.....there's got to be more I'm just too busy in work.

I don't have a joystick with a trigger firebutton - I've got an arcade stick connected to my Speccy Next.

  • I remember I released a (small) game that only needed one key to play. In fact you could probably find it in the archive using 'one key'.
  • I always play Manic Miner one handed: thumb on space, index on o, middle on p. But then I have no idea what the minimum hand size is to play like that.

Yeah I remember that - just downloaded it again(HeartStealer). I can't stop playing that now.......

His hand size isn't a problem, 10 years old, 5 foot 5 and in size 9 shoes....so he could easily play left right jump games actually - cheers. He's nearly finished Manic Miner before with 2 hands so could be interesting to see how he gets on with one.

  • Bug Eyes - just uses left & right.
Pinball - Sagittarian software (and other pinball games as well, presumably)
Most versions of 'Breakout' could be played one-handed.
    Pyjamarama
  • He's playing Snake Escape right now. One of my favourite Speccy games and a great choice by him :)
