Underground bunker being setup under London

edited January 2021 in Chit chat
Just came upon this video of urban explorers. They found this underground bunker. It goes for miles and miles, has multiple levels, power on, automatic lighting, thousands of beds. Lots of it new. The facility was obviously very old, parts of it looks like it's being turned into a museum of some kind. There are screens with projectors playing old WW2 footage etc.

One part of it, they walk past a pile of boxes of security archive footage. Some interesting labels on a few of the boxes. Lord Lucan, Ipcress files, '69 Moon Landing Fake Footage.

It seems to be in process of being re-purposed fairly recently. Apparently the beds weren't there before now, as the explorers had some old photos of the inside.

Very strange and interesting.

Edit: It's obviously WW2 era, with work to make it into a museum, now abandoned probably because of lack of funds. But interesting none the less. The labels on the security archive boxes were pretty funny though...

  • ha ha what a load of old ****.. Pandemic bunker indeed. I do they aren't taking themselves too seriously and just having a laugh. Why would the gov spend millions on the Nightingales, then secretly set up old bunkers. If they wanted to lay out bodies, they'd do it in the nightingales. Its not like they'd be able to hide the fact millions are dying, if that was the case, which it thankfully wasn't. :)

  • hmm let me see, i want to save all my friends and chronies from a pandemic, so i'll set up a bunker beneath the biggest virus hotspot in the country on the off chance its needed.

OR i'll clear off to the country side or a small island where i'll be perfectly safe.

    It's a head scratcher, i'll give you that :)

1 minute in says it all, they are told "stories" by Mathew Williams (hes a massive conspiracy nut and area 51 nut) runs the secret vault youtube channel which is the place for exploration but generally with a conspiracy bent

Just watched the EWF UK Area 51 Is Real video with Mathew Williams. The security guard that came out seemed to suggest that Mathew Williams 'knows' what goes on and what happens in the facility at CCC (UK Area 51), after the American chap asked what happens inside. They had a very friendly chat.
    About 49 minutes in:

I remember when the Ancient Aliens crew went there, they never got the respect that Matt Williams got. So a lot of what he says about the secret government facilities and what they do is mostly true, about Skynet satellites, MOD and RAF UFO investigations etc., he knows and met with the guy that developed the Skynet satellites donkeys ago, and that's where he found out a lot of what happens at Corsham Computer Centre. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corsham_Computer_Centre

Mathew Williams has been going to and getting into these secret bases for 40 years. So he might be a 'nut', but he's a 'nut' that 'knows' a lot.

Wow very interesting FrankT. That is something - they were able to put that together years ago - with no doubt some reinforcing in later years - says a lot. Enjoyed seeing them explore it.

The structure was very interesting own its own terms, inspite of the fake conspiracy vibe running through the banter of the fellas in the video.
  • The thing is with chaps like these, they fabricate their own reality based on what they see. The conformation bias is strong. The truth is often a lot more mundane and disappointing than these conspiracy fantasists will have you believe. Its all smoke and mirrors really because incompetence is often the reality despite the large sums spent on strategics, its like a security blanket, 911 and the recent attacks on the capital building should make that evident.

Having been in many tunnels, the most exciting bit (in a tunnel without any operational lighting) is when you drop your torch (flash light) and it goes out and won’t turn back on...

Especially fun if the person you are with hates the dark :))

funny thing is, everybody seems to think they are conspiracy theorists just because of the first two minutes of that video where Dans playing with the idea, they arent, they are explorers, normally the videos are just mundane explorations

No illusion, It really does. It’s where there is a vertical shaft where normally the water falls down from above (due to gravity as you expect). But when a fast moving large vehicle enters the tunnel (this being a man made tunnel), the pressure wave created ahead of it causes air to move upwards through the vertical shaft, and it takes the water with it :D

When the kettle boils, I expect to see water (in the form of steam) moving vertically upwards. ~O) ;)

That's why any urbexer worth his salt will carry one or two backup torches ...

The "best" tunnels are really old, disused ones deep within some complex where upon climbing down just a few meters, you suddenly are in an area where there's a steep drop in oxygen. I haven't encountered this yet but I've read some scary stories where people can go unconscious within seconds, and then it's game over man, game over!

  • I read recently that there is loads of disused tunnels are the streets of Glasgow, some are old railway tunnels and there is rumoured to be an old cold war bunker underneath the old BT Building on Pitt Street that would be used for communications in the event of a nuclear war but the equipment would be way out of date now.
There's a disused train station near the Botanic Gardens in Glasgow that closed in the seventies and a tunnel that links it to another part of Glasgow that i'd like to explore but someone says part of it runs under the river Clyde and will probably now be flooded.
    The trouble with tribbles is.......

What about kerosine hurricane lamps (and a box of matches)?

They create a nice warm circle of light for everyone to see in all directions.
