On to series 2 of The Mandalorian, and I'm definitely enjoying it more that the first which wasn't as good as it had been hyped up to be IMO.
The first couple of episodes definitely have improved pacing and the stories are now less hackneyed and generally just more confident. The sense of peril is a bit more real and has gone up a notch.
A British thriller set in Scotland called A Lonely Place To Die about a group of mountaineers in the Highlands that find a girl being held captive, they rescue her but the people that kidnapped her want her back. Not bad.
I am enjoying the Queen season 4 on Netflix, but I wish the drama was more factual rather than being half fictitious. When I speak to US friends and collegues, they seem to be treating it as a history lesson, but rather it is the truth greatly embellished or altered for dramatic effect. They make some royals seem far meaner than they really are, the queen more austere than she really is and often they make the events what we would like to have happened rather than what actually happened. For example, they showed the Michael Fagin break in of 1982 and made it seem like he had a friendly chat with the Queen about the state of the nation because of Margret Thatcher when in fact he did not, by his own omission, get the chance to do that.
The thought of breaking into the palace and walking around the palace for a couple of hours, siting on the throne, looking at the pictures, drinking a bottle of wine and then quietly leaving is fascinating. Apparently, this really did happen in the first of two times Michael broke in to the palace.
After Mel mentioned it earlier, watched Day of the Dead the other night for the first time in about 20 years. Fantastic movie.
Then watched the remake of Dawn of the Dead. Surprisingly that was much better than I remembered, but when I finished I realised it was the Day of the Dead remake that's absolutely awful (the one with the girl from American Beauty). Dawn is a real lesson in how to do a remake - it really gets going within the first few minutes and never lets up.
The only downside is the character played by Phil from Modern Family. You cannot get over the fact that he's not Phil (even though it's years before MF was made) and you keep expecting him to say something Phil-ish.

Yeah i agree, the Dawn of the dead remake is excellent, but the day of the dead sequels and the remake are atrocious, i only have em as im a completest lol

Thanks! ZX1 for that clip of Purple doing Burn, my favourite band of all time. Love those classical riffs that Jon Lord always manages to fit into almost any song.
Dunno how I missed this first time, still better late than never, eh? I am also a fan of 'big hair'. Alas those days are long gone...
Not the music I normally listen to, but I really enjoyed that. It always amazes me how with those huge speakers do not cause feedback in to the mics and guitars. They put them behind the band, but then the band feel they need a row of monitors at the front. Now I know why rockers had big hair, to protect their ears or many to hide the ear plugs, either that or they are now deaf.
I was half expecting it to be Rainbow when I first saw the video, no not Bungle Zippy and George but the rock act. However, its nice to see that rainbows were popular with rock acts and kids shows in the 70s.
PS: Why does John Lord keep rocking his Hammond organ? I've seen Lead Zeppelin to the same, does it cause some weird affect with the tooth wheels in the organ?
Didn't like Fantastic Voyage but Fashion was pretty good.
I'm refusing to listen to Billy Corgan's cover of Space Oddity. I like the Smashing Pumpkins but he's just going to murder that.
Oh, no. Every time you turn up something monumental and terrible happens.
I don’t think I have the stomach for it.

I think 'Day' was my least favourite of the original three, i preferred the first two, i think 'Night' is my favourite. Still quite creepy.

I like it, obviously its different, but thats the point of having other people singing his songs, its not going to sound exactly the same
It's definitely different but it just seemed to be a bit lacklustre and disjoined to me.

I just finished watching The Umbrella Academy last night. That was great.
Next up is And then there were none. I've heard good things about that and at only 3 episodes it's quickly done.
After that I'll throw myself into Gangs of London. I've also heard good things about that.
Finally sitting down and watching season 2 of the Mandalorian......Good thing is this time, my sh*tty cable package actually has Disney+ on it right now, so instead of watching it on my PC on my usual sketchy Russian server website I can actually sit and watch it on the couch with the lights out on a big TV.
15 minutes in, and already glued to the TV....sweeeeeet! :D
