Stargazer Secrets by CRL

edited October 2005 in MIA/STP/SDP
Hello again !

I have a copy of Stargazer Secrets by CRL. It is not mentioned anywhere in the archives, and has a different loading screen to the "Stargazer" program by the same company, so there is no mix up there. Another MIA ??

Off the top of my head, I'd say this was already done..

    Can anyone else confirm?

Any chance of emailing me a scan of the inlay and a screengrab of the loading screen.

It may just be an alternate version of Stargazer by CRL...

I?ll check my copy when I get back home Tuesday.

Screen Grab ??!! Oh blimey, new technology !!! Can scan the inlay no probs, but will a good old fashioned digi-camera pic of the loading screen suffice?

    Yeah, that will do fine...

I'm sure Spectaculator and other emulators can do screen grabs, but a digi cam shot is fine.

Steve, I don't think Karl has a TZX yet in order to aquire a screengrab :o.

Karl, if it turns out to be needed just drop it into the post as usual ;).

    OK, mystery solved.

CRL released "Stargazer Secrets", which is already dumped and resolved fully, however the loading screen is missing.

The .tap file in the Infoseek record, is also called Stargazer Secrets but was released by a company called Somerville in 1983. A new record for this should be ceated and it should be flagged as STP. The .gif loading screen in the CRL record is from the Somerville version of the utility.

    Ehrm, I'm afraid not :)
If you play the TZX file, you'll find it's the same as the TAP file, except it has something in front of it, with a different loading screen.
So the mystery is indeed solved, but it's just that there's a loading screen before the listed one (which is some sort of mid-loading screen).

That said, a scan of the inlay wouldn't go amiss, allowing me to check the full title; e.g. SU called it 'Star Gazer' in their review.

If the game is flagged as "STP", shall I send this up to Andy with my other tapes for preservation ?

I don't think it's needed as the CRL release is covered. However if it was the original then indeed it is needed.

I think I got the asumptions right? You have the CRL version.

    Cheers
