  • So ... I discovered that I've been cooking chicken the wrong way all along.
Cooking it flat-roasted is the way to go, yo!

It's called, as you probably already know, spatch-cocking. It's a really good way of cooking a chicken. It reduces the cooking time as the meat is cooked more evenly. Skin gets crispier as well which, let's face it, is one of the best things of getting a roast chicken straight out of the oven and gorging yourself :-)
  • Have you got a spatched cock?
    Sod it!

Chinese chicken curry with egg fried rice (shop bought). The chicken and sauce was nice but the rice wasn't very good.

  • Vinegar - i put it on the lettuce so it wasn't so dry. I had no mayo or salad cream.
    The trouble with tribbles is.......
  • Haddock and lentils.

    haddock-lentils.jpg

I've never had lentils before, and frankly, I wasn't missing much. They were OK I suppose, but not worth the hassle of preparing them. The haddock was nice, though.
  • Odd combination! Lentils are good if you put em' in a curry!.....Although hang on forgive my political incorrectness, as I understand now curry is racist and needs to be cancelled! Lentils are good in a "Kari" or a Spicy gravy! :))

I can just see it now if those WOKE fannies actually get the word cancelled for being racist! Let's go out for a couple of pints, and a spicy gravy! They don't understand that spicy gravy is what happens after you wake up the next day! :))

  • Yeah lentils aren't much good on their own (you are looking for chickpeas instead).

They are good to make lentil soup though, especially if you add them to water you used to boil a ham shank with (add onions and stuff as well and veg stock cube etc.)

Hmm, unusual combination - i would have had some chips instead with the fish. Do i see mustard on one of the fillets? Also is there brown AND tomato sauce on the lentils?

  • Slices of roast chicken, mash, yorkshires and carrots with gravy (the chicken is underneath all the other food!). Felt it needed more gravy though.

Yes, tomato sauce and brown sauce on the lentils, and mustard and chilli sauce on the fish.
  • It must've been mega bland to have to add 4 condiments to it :p

I agree. Mustard and gravy... Food of the gods IMO. Get some taste in there.
  • What kind of a preserve/jam/jelly/thingy are we looking at here? It looks like it's supposed to be on my toast already!

Apple and blackberry jam. I'm going to call it QL Jam, because the ingredients that went into it were green, black and white, and the final product is red. It's Mode 4 in absolute perfection!

Meanwhile, I've also made an experimental batch of greengage jam:
