My mate was impressed when he got a letter from one of the band members as he was trying to track down their earlier stuff. He said they wrote stuff after all night benders :))
80s French pop. UK might have had Frankie Goes to Hollywood...but France had this which was quite risque. It's about first time sex. Salty drops ooo-eeer. Very sexy kitten Jeanne Mas here.
Sheffield band OUt INK, if you like jazz, prog rock, post hardcore, weird indie you may like these, they remind me of Pierre Moelons Gong and older Sheffield band King Capisce. I just bought the vinyl edition from Doitthissen records and then found it they feature one of mi old mates Jon Willis on Bass lol, who was always into Thash metal etc, in a few thrash bands back in the late 80s, early 90s
Now listening to Abba Voyage, their first new album in 40 years. The songs are largely a continuation of the writing and musical style they had in 1982, but with modern piano and synthesizer/orchestration sounds. I have not heard any standout hits or anything that makes me go wow, but the tracks are as good as Abba's B Sides and Album tracks from back in the day. A pleasing album for background music while I work, but not something that stops you in your tracks as with historic songs such as Chiquitita.
I wonder if them having a new album out is the reason my work radio seems to be playing a lot of their old songs now, I've been at that job for close to 14 years, and in that entire time I'd probably heard Abba play about 3 times.....Until about a month back, now it seems like it's every few songs Abba comes on, bloody horrible!
Still I suppose it was better than Christmas music, that's one good thing about the USA when Christmas is over it's over, all the crap on the radio stops December 26th they don't drag it on til' January 2nd, like they do back home.
I've been listening to a lot of Soviet Synth pop over the last day or so, not the so called modern minimal, or coldwave stuff from recent years that gets called "Sovietwave" (Which is still bloody good actually), but stuff from the 80's. Alyans, Forum, Bioconstructor, Olga Voskonyan, Grad (Yugoslav), Phantasmagoria (Yugoslav), and so on.

I dunno I just like stuff like this I guess...
Good choice, there are some good sounds amount that list there.
Oh yeah, I've trawled thru eastern bloc minimalist 80s synth and east euro general synth more than once.. I distinctly remember Olga. I have a soft spot for Inka(East Germany). A surprising amount of it tbh.. but I cannot remember the half of it.

That song by Forum is something more of a cult classic than I thought somebody liked it so much they remade it in English, but hired professionals to help him do it. So he could get it sounding as close to the original as possible.

I love stuff like that.
So good you said it twice. I've got a soft spot for Euro disco of the 80s primarily because of the prominent use of synthesizers. The lyrics can be shallow but that's part of the fun.
Well, that was a bit of fun. That vid was missing the part where you're older and have no future brain. I did have a love for Italo synth-disco in my euro clubbing days.
However..I may as well put up a vid of Inka for no reason at all. Schritte(steps) somewhere between minimal and mid stream. Very pretty and in German.
Day by day I'm feelin' happy. Covid blues are about gone away. I got my Italo Disco mix on. This one though takes me right back. Don't think it were ever in UK ..but this is some positive energy. So much fun in those days. Used to request this in Euro discos for a decade or more. cheesy and cheerful ..plus ACE!
Take a 1979 synth-dance track..remix and add an amazing on the moon arty video filmed in 8mm and with an italian model and.. its so beautiful and made me in strange mood all day. Rare to be affected so much.

The last Abba tape I owned was chucked out the sunroof of my Rover by my friends, somewhere near Storlien in 99. haha.
