Any chemists here? Robert Grubbs died - one of the Nobel Prize winners for chemistry in 2005.
It hits home more than most because his metathesis catalyst - which is what earned him the prize - is something I've used, when I was a 4th year project student - and I joined a PhD group that also used it extensively, both its first and second generation versions, and the modified Hoveyda-Grubbs version.
Grubbs, Richard Schrock and Yves Chauvin were awarded the Nobel Prize while I was a PhD student, and there was much rejoicing in the group because it was something that was actually relevant to us.
Robin Le mesurier (68)
Son of Hattie Jaques and John Le Mesurier, he was a womble and played with the likes of Rod Stewart and Johnny Halliday and Bernie Taupin https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Le_Mesurier

One of those actors whose face you recognise but couldn't put a name to.
Agreed. The type of character actor who was in just about every 60's-70's TV show but always drew a blank name wise. I think playing Colonel Preston in Colditz was his best known role.
That's the one! I think i have it as a torrent somewhere. I remember it being quite graphic. Has a nasty scene involving a razor blade and someone's eye.

With a name like that, I'm going to assume he was 12 inches in one dimension at least.

Schrock is the only one left alive now, aged 76.
