entering bands every year just for the sake of it lessens the value of the hall, and this is one of those years.

Rush, Van Halen, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Yes, "Weird Al" Yankovic, The Cure, Kiss, Jim Croce, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Chicago and The Moody Blues have not been nominated.

    J. Geils Band, Paul Butterfield Band, Chic, Joe Tex, the Dave Clark Five and the Sir Douglas Quintet have.

    Pointless exercise...

I'm surprised that Van Halen aren't already there especially as how big they were in the US. Sammy Hagar-to-now stuff is shite, but the albums up to 1984 we're quite good.

The same with Alice Cooper, everything up until the Trash album (very apt) was awesome.

Is it considered bad-form to be British and slag-off The Sex Pistols? I've always replaced "Never Mind The ..." with "A Load of ...". One of the most over-rated bands ever IMO.

Nope, I quite agree with you actually.

For a while Van Hagar were still pretty good and IMHO the last decent album was F.U.C.K., after that it went downhill rapidly. The Gary Cherone album was quite frankly embarassing and they've never really recovered. There has been a lot of talk about a reunion with David Lee Roth (albeit mostly from DLR) after the couple of new tracks were recorded for the first Greatest Hits album but EVH has publically since said that that DLR suffers from LSD (Lead Singer Disease) and could not imagine working with him again.

They deserve the Hall of Fame place if only for the first album. (having said that I'm not a fan of these Hall of Fame's anyway).

I don't think I've heard the album with Cherone on it, but I would have avoided it anyway as I never rated Extreme. It would be nice to see a farewall tour from VH with DLR as lead singer again, but only if they did all their original stuff, I really, really hated the Hagar nonsense.

I forgot to mention my nominee in my orginal post, and if they aren't there already: Queen.
