I've just watched the latest episode, it is definitely a decent series. I think the little Leia is great, I think her attitude is perfect compared to her when she is grown up haha.
Haven't got that far, seems this series may be on par with lore, and fan service as Mando though....Seems a bit chaotic though first episode is an hour, second 38 minutes, and 3rd about 45 minutes....That might be a good thing though, get done what needs to be done per episode instead of dragging it out across another 5 or 6.
Aye, it definitely feels like Mando (not that crap attempt with Boba Fett), the episodes are a bit all over the place time wise, but seem to fit well.
It gets better quite quick too. Just wish they would do a proper Star Wars movie in this kinda style instead of the shite they've been pumping out for years :)
I've seen a lot of hate for the Boba Fett series and I'm at a bit of a loss as to why. I quite enjoyed it - although I will admit it became really good when it became The Mandalorian Season 2.5.
Is it because he's no longer a bounty hunter and becomes basically a good guy? I don't really know much about the character other than he was a little seen bounty hunter in the OT.
Boba Fett wasn't terrible, but it just didn't seem to gel for me as Mando did (and baby Yoda!!!), and yeah, I would say that the episodes with Mando in were the better ones. Although I did like Fennec, no messing about with her lol
Obi-wan seems like it could be as good as Mando. Still early days though but so far by episode 3, it looks positive :)
Just finished watching the end of Boba Fett with my son. It definitely was a bit of a drag at times, but the last couple of episodes with Mando + Grugu (+Luke!) elevated the interest a good bit. But that just kind of shone a light on the fact that Boba's own story wasn't really that compelling throughout the rest of the series. And I wasn't one of his big fanboys BITD, and never really understood the fascination with him. So I had no preconceptions of what I wanted from a series about the character.
But I think they over-did the whole "western in space" idea. It just seemed a bit overdone and clichéd at times. Two enemies facing down on a dusty street, reveal the holstered gun, twitch the fingers, who can draw fastest.... "but I have armour!" 8-| The "space western" thing was all done a lot more convincingly two decades ago in Firefly!
And the last episode had huge ambition to make most of the running time cover one long, spectacular battle. But while it was technically good, and I'm sure took a huge effort to produce, in the end it never quite hit the edge-of-the-seat-excitement mark, despite the unexpected Rancor showdown.
I'm going to watch episode 3 before beddy byes tonight....Been seeing vids, and posts online saying "Fans hate it, it's usual virtue signalling woke crap".......Usually I'd look into this stuff, and watch a few of these vids, and look over some of these posts. In this case I actually cannot agree, so far its been excellent, and I'm thoroughly enjoying it! I'm also not seeing any evidence of the woke stuff! One complaint I've seen is that the Asian Inquisitor was lightwashed, but come on that's not a problem it's Star Wars, the facial features don't necessarily match the skin tone of a Sith.
It'd be like saying only a man with red, and black streaked skin, and horns can play Darth Maul, so Ray Park is a racist!
Dial it back! :))
Although speaking of that though I like that they actually put a character in there that was the same race as Darth Maul, that was pretty cool! Even if he was a worthless fecker :))
From what I see yes the cast is diverse, but it's diverse in the way that most people want it, and I hate to say "Organically", but every character so far seems to fit well, it's not like they've been shoehorned in there to tick the invisible boxes! The diversity works, because it feels realistic! That's all people need to do to make a good show really! Everything has to work together in harmony, not try and one up each other for a narrative!
I got an earful a week or so back in a different location to WOS for saying the Mandalorian was the only good Star Wars since 1984, but I can probably add that Obi Wan is the only good Star Wars since 2020!
Sorry don't hate Boba Fett, but I have been calling it the Book of Boring for a while now, it's not bad, it's just not great, although it was great to see Tamura Morrison in the role, he's a really great underrated actor! It may be something that haunts his career, but me, and I'm sure a lot of others will mostly remember him as Jake the Muss!
Once Were Warriors? That was a good film I haven't seen in decades. Tough watch and he was an absolute bastard in it. Totally unrepentant after beating and raping his wife - along the lines of "you know what I'm like so you should have stayed out of my way." Powerful performance.
Agree with everything you said above, although it might be worth giving The Clone Wars a go (CGI one). I'm halfway through it and, yes, there's some crap in there, but it's got better the further I've got into it. Some episodes have been some of the best SW I've seen.
But The Mandalorian is the one everything has to live up to. I think it's been one of the best TV shows of all time. Obi-Wan is certainly not far off it so far though. Most recent episode was terrific.
I keep tripping over all the continuity issues with the new Star Wars stuff. It's all over the place. But I'm still enjoying Obi-Wan. The characters a bit different to the old man we saw in the original, but I'm wondering if he changes over the period of this series, maybe? Mando is the best of the new stuff. Good solid scifi, great stories with a Star Wars universe background.
I'm thinking Obi-Wan must have to change. He's cut himself off a lot from The Force to avoid detection and, boy, did that show in episode 3. There simply has to be another face off with Vader given what Vader says when they meet in A New Hope ("last time... etc"), and I'd imagine it's going to be Obi-Wan with the full brunt of The Force behind him. I cannot wait! It's going to be what Mustafar should have been.
My thought is that Obi-Wan wins (obviously) but... barely, and he might even have to dip into some Dark Side stuff to do it. It takes so much out of him he goes completely into hiding on Tatooine to watch over Luke.
I've heard it's also been greenlit for season 2 which is fabulous news. But it does fly in the face of him watching over Luke for 10 years. He's already on one adventure, another season would suggest another.

Yeah Once we’re Warriors is a great film, but as you say it’s a hard watch. The violence at first seems glamourised when he beats the tattooed guy up in the bar early on in the film, but it’s horrible when he batters his missus from one end of the house and back while hosting a party at his house.
Have you seen the sequel What becomes of the broken hearted? It’s less gritty, and Jake actually has a bit of a redemption arc in it. It follows him after he’s got out of prison, no doubt for what he did to Uncle Bully, although I find that scene was justified in the first film. One of his kids is the one in trouble in this film not sure if it’s Nig, or Boogy, or perhaps it’s Toot the homeless kid from the first film? It’s been a while since I’ve seen it.

No I didn't realise there'd been a sequel to it so I'm going to watch OWW (which I think is on Prime at the mo) and then follow it up with WBOTBH (one of my all-time favourite songs BTW - hope it doesn't ruin it for me :-) )
OWW - all I can really remember is that party scene - which felt a bit too close to home for comfort - and the absolute battering he gives a guy at the end. I can't remember if that guy had raped or raped/killed his daughter, or she subsequently committed suicide but I remember that scene taking my breath away at the time with the sheer level of violence - and yes IIRC he utterly deserved it. I'm older and more desensitized now so I should be alright :))
Actually, it's just reminded me of a movie that I must watch again after 20 years or so. City Of God, a true story, about violence and gangs in the Brazilian favelas. When the credits start rolling you realise how close to what really happened it truly is.
Wales qualifying for the World Cup for the first time in 64 years! :)
It would have been a fantastic story for Ukraine to quality, and they actually were the better team, like they were in defeating Scotland last week. But football had other ideas, and I'm so proud to see Wales get to the World Cup!
Good! I'm glad if Wales Qualified! I actually think it's nice when a team everyone thinks won't make it this time....well does!
As for Ukraine not making it if they weren't good enough I'm glad they didn't make it, due to the world situation it's be nice to include them, but if they're sh*t at football a sympathy vote for political reasons would be wrong, don't mean to sound awful, but they've had plenty of those since Russia went to war with them...Shouldn't be an excuse to include them if they're not actually good enough!
Speaking selfishly as an England supporter we were always on a hiding whomever qualified. Everyone hates us anyway but if we'd played Ukraine then the entire world would be on their side and England Vs Scotland/Wales are always horrible matches. I said it would be vs Scotland in Euro 2020 and I was right :-)
But massive congratulations to Wales - I always enjoy the fervour whenever they play (other teams not England) and outside of that match will be fully behind them.
I never thought I'd do this....I never thought I'd ever do this....But I am watching Matt Walsh's What is a woman? right now, and I can't actually tell if it's a real documentary, or a giant troll? :))
I can see why Gen Zee, Tik-Tokkers, and a few crazy feminazis would hate it, but so far, erm? It seems a little tongue n' cheek....I'm assuming it starts light hearted, and then it's going to go into the realms of everyone is a bigot....
It's going to erm, it's going to offend a lot of people, special people, people who think they're special, certain people we've seen come forward who think they deserve something, something for nothing....
EDIT: OK there's a line in it where he says "So I went to college....Glad I didn't pay for it!" :))
Well, I watched the trailer. I'd put this into the category of the documentary equiv of pulp fiction. Normal women aren't at all interested in definitiions.. It's just this feminazi minority who are getting a platform and starting all this cause the one's who really think they are special ...is them. Gays in general despise trans. Why there is huge conflict is the gays say these so called trans are muscling in on their celebration of speciallness Funny, there's just about sod all subjects they can touch these days, but this subject is a free for all at the moment. The overlords of the media have thrown this subject to the dogs. A bit like paedo politicians throwing some faded pop star to the dogs to keep people off their backs and thoroughly diverted.
The trailer itself looks set up somewhat. It's easy to find disgruntled female to males. They all are! ..and they make up 80% of trans. I The question should be what is trans or what is a man. A hostage to kindness and wheels, underneath her. the abused always kick downward...that's what's happening.
American filmaker...be brave now..make the next documentary about dew or ffthnik.
Well I watched it all....It was actually funny in places, but I'm not sure if it was supposed to be? :))
He didn't really, really go hard on the clown world though, but it did raise a few good points, maybe on both sides, even though it was obviously kind of one sided, although to be fair with the massive bias in every single thing these days, maybe it needed to be one sided...
Well I watched it, I thought it was OK....I'm not gonna watch the guys channel, because even if he is right, there's nothing worse than a smart guy, who constantly reminds you how smart he is....
Well if that guy truly is smart. Let's hope he doesn't fall into the trap of all smart people. That is, while he is studying people and thinking he is smart, smart people are studying him right back. A great failure in smart people that.
I've been watching True Detective over the last week or so. Season one was brilliant but season 2 has been confusing. Vince Vaughan running about pretending to be Tony Soprano doesn't work.

It wouldn't be boozy without it least one problem lol

Anyway, on to Obi Wan now! B-)
The bit leading up to "what have you become?" was great. I was hoping for some absolutely ruthless Vader and they didn't disappoint.
