Update check in EmuZWin and other thoughts?

edited October 2005 in Emulators
Hello!

I would like to have a update check(new version) in EmuZWin, with many new versions all the time it would be nice to have this function. ;)

It would be nice also to have a installation package(nsis) for EmuZWin, so I can have a startmenu folder and desktop icon and uninstall option.
And maybe option to localise it to your native language.

Just my thoughts.

Cheers

Christian

    It seems that no one is interested in my ideas.

    If you read readme file (html) you can find there that I'll never do this two things (and one more at least - help system with a detailed instruction how to select items in the menu - too).

    Thanks for the answer.

    I found the text in your readme file.

    "What is not planning at all:
    * special installation pack.
    * auto-update from the Internet.
    * developing help system. All the functions should be simple and main of them available to use by children from 4-6 years old.
    "

    Why can't you supplie two versions of your program, one just in zip file and one with a installation package?

    One other thing

    Your readmefile says following.
    "There were not planned in 2.1, but possibly in 2.2/2.3/2.4:

    * kid-mode (minimum settings available in this mode)
    * protocol, statistics of certain games running
    * more disk systems
    * more models support with shadow ROM/RAM: Scorpion, ATM, Profi, PLM Automatica, Timex, etc.
    * loading/saving tape from/to WAV, external line (via sound card), saving tape to TZX
    * other printers (then ZX Printer), RS-232"

    You are at version 2.7 what of above are still in project.

    Sorry for bugging you, but I like your program and wish you well progress with your program.

    You are the only one in the speccy emulator scene that still develop and releasing new versions on frequenct basis ;) (Flame me now, please)

    Cheers

    This is simple. I have no good internet connection. Only a dial-up at spped 32-37Kbit/sec. And it is not cheap enouth for me. So I have to economy connection time and should upload smaller archives.

    Unreal Speccy by SMT updated even more often. If you read the history part and take attention to dates you can find that I am working on the emulator about 2 or 3 times a year, each time about 1-2 months, with some short breaks. And even these time I also don't stop some of other my project. E.g., this time I developed KOL/MCK, Zoomer3, fixed Multiclipboad, GrabScreen - while developing EmuZWin 2.7. Now I start another project, so EmuZWin project is stopped a bit now (though in a very stable state, with all known bugs fixed, I hope).
