When I was younger I always thought a film adaptation of Jewel in the skull done in the style of Bakshi’s LOTR would’ve been awesome! Nowadays I don’t really want anything like that, because you know it would be completely ruined by some hack with no respect for the source material trying to “reimagine” it!
Wasn't really as subversive as Elric (hero is an evil demon worshipping, drug taking weakling, obvs the sword is a metaphor for drugs too) though. Stormbringer is probably Moorcock's best book I think. Hawkmoon did have the hero was German and the bad guys were British though, and they worshipped gods with similar names to John, Paul, George and Ringo ;) But we have XTM of TMG on here, who is also a hero.
Maybe they could go the woke route and do a film of Erekose (who was black - but never mentioned in the books I think?). He did kind of genocide all the other humans though cos they were fascist meanies though so maybe not.
A bit late to this, but The Stranglers are one of the few bands I've seen live. First time I saw them was at The Lemon Tree near 20 years ago, a small venue and a cracking gig, one of the best I've been to.
Back from the Tartan Heart festival at Belladrum last weekend. My highlights were:
Hamish Hawk. Visually styled like one of Sparx, with a very eccentric stage performance, but lyrics reminiscent of Dury or Pulp, I liked him/them a lot. Best song title of the weekend too, with The Mauritian Badminton Doubles Champion, 1973.
Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, a young American dude who plays blues. He announced during the show he'd just won a grammy for his new album. Incredible performance from him, well beyond his years imo, well worth checking out.
Edwyn Collins closed the weekend for us with an amazing heartfelt performance. I was aware of the odd hit he'd had, but I'll be seeking out more now.
EDIT: Also annoyed that I wanted to see Sonic Youth when I was at Glasto but I was so mad they swapped with Bob Dylan and I had missed them that I didn't even hang around to watch Bob Dylan, which I will probably regret.
The funny thing about regret is, it's better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done. And if you see your mother next weekend, make sure you tell her SATAN SATAN SATAN SATAN!
I stand firm for my soil....Lick a rock off foil....
Tricky one to decipher, that ;)
After my Madchester fetish subsided, I found myself getting into triphop with Portishead, Massive Attack, Mandalay, K&D etc and still enjoy it that there's Triphop outfits producing stuff now.

I think one of my regrets is never seeing Beth Gibbons live with PH. She seems to put something very unusual and extra into her performances.

I know they weren’t strictly a trip hop act but they kinda toed that line. But I still really like the Sneaker Pimps first album. Everything after that was complete gash though, especially when Kele left the band, then she came back, and they were still shit! :))
Never liked Portis Head that much to be honest, but I still think I have CD copies of Blue Lines, and Mezzanine by Massive attack lying round somewhere…Smoke City weren’t too bad either.
I loved the Goodies when I was a kid. The jack and the beanstalk thing with the dambusters geese had me rolling.
I tried to introduce the bin lids to the show recently, wanting them to appreciate how hilarious it was, but it just seemed a bit shit 42 or so years on. They had zero interest, although they did think the Tri-dem bike was funny.
I'm just hoping that they'll like The Young Ones when I show them that!

I have to be in the right mood for Portishead as it can be a bit draining. Massive Attack is more upbeat, despite being downbeat. Not heard of Smoke City but I'll look them up.
I think I only know one Sneaker Pimps song, 6 underground, which is very good. I think I first heard it on Mary Anne Hobbes' Breezeblock programme....or perhaps it was in Morris' Blue Jam.
The episode is infamous for the documented example of a man laughing to death. Fifty-year-old Alex Mitchell could not stop laughing for a continuous 25-minute period—almost the entire length of the show—and suffered a fatal heart attack as a result of the strain placed on his heart. Alex's widow later sent the Goodies a letter thanking them for making his final moments so pleasant.

Ah, the good old days of late night revision.

Blimey.
Nice that his widow thanked the Goodies for making his final moments so pleasant. I can think of worse ways to go.
A shame that his daughter died so young, too, although I never had any long term complications from programming with Qt.
This is nuts! I haven't checked online obviously for close to 3 years since this got posted back in 2019, last time I did check it turned up nothing! But I've been looking for any actual recordings from this band since about 1993! :O
Sadly the song I'm looking for isn't on this album, and there's only 2 songs kicking about from their second album! Neither of which are the one I'm looking for.
I can see mel now saying "Hang on this punk is too melodic for Boozy with those whiny voices he's always complaining about" Yeah you'd be right, but I've had a soft spot for this band for a very long time :p

Several hues today! Oh the hue manatee
Here's an early song he did with Paul from 84. I know Paul quite well in RL. Brilliant cover of pale blue eyes. Much in Edwyn's style.
Linger on..your pale blue eyes.

Still prefer Kate Pearson though ;)

Good to see the eagle from the muppets in that video as well though

Show them Fawlty Towers. They'll love it!
You know what time it is though?
For XTM: HALTEN SIE! ES IST HAMMERZEIT!
