Oh dear, did I pull a Boozey? Yesterday I was talking to my mum about the 1983 movie "Brainstorm" and remarked how in the movie she dies of a heart attack which she "records" (it will make sense if you have watched the movie) ...
At least you can't put the forum curse on Ken Kesey - he died in 2001.
The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test by Tom Wolfe (author of The Bonfire of the Vanities, also immune to the forum curse), is a good book about Ken Kesey and his band of Merry Pranksters.
I lived in Eugene, Or. in fact for a year. There is a Kesey Square there. Matt Groening is from there too, but I digress.
Well, I didn't think much of the movie version of Bonfire of the Vanities. Perhaps I wasn't focused enough the one time I seen it. Nevertheless, thank you for the recommendations.
I've not seen the film either (nor read the book) - but I have read The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test. Kesey wrote One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest while working night-shifts at a mental institution while off his head on drugs, basically.
When I was in San Francisco on a business jolly (not really, was a Bluetooth conference thing but it was rubbish, just people trying to tell you stuff, no useful info for me as a Bluetooth driver developer at the time), I did make sure we all went to Haight Ashbury which is where Ken and his gang of acid heads used to hang out ;)
It was in San Jose which is very near, so we had a day trip to SF obvs. We did know the way to San Jose (although there was an incident when Maneesh tried to drive the Scooby Doo van we had hired the wrong way down 4 lanes of oncoming traffic, which could have got us all shot I suppose!).
Whoa...hired a Scooby van! K@@L! You knew the way to San Jose but drove down against the traffic.. A business jolly you called this? Jesus H! That area is a nightmare for driving true enough.
I stayed for 3 month in Half Moon Bay, just to the south. Up and down them damn streets in SF, bloody nightmare. I did drive my clunker down Lombard St I seem to remember.
Bay area shenanigans eh? I stayed in Belmont near Redwood City/San Carlos on three game localization stints for EA back in 2005-2007. It was pretty nice there ...

Bit offtopic though innit?
Sorry! AElita mentioned One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest though, I blame her (points and runs away).
Hehe. I got Billy Bobbit scene stuck in my head now. Was a very mysterious thing about the film. The French girl I was touring with and I was watching it one evening. She completely freaked out at the Rasched Billy Bobbit scene. and ran out screaming. That s why it's stuck in my head. Anyhoo. Been told off so, RIP Louise fletcher
Not a celebrity but I see Google have announced the death of Stadia in Jan 2023. What a shock - Google pulling something that a few people will have invested into is a common theme after all. Looks like users who purchased games will get refunds at least.
I have one - it came free with my phone last Christmas. Tried it once - through a wireless and wired connection and it was crap. Picture was constantly blurry and that's when it didn't run like a slideshow. Playstation Now blew it out of the water.
When will these tech companies learn that 99% of users are not interested in streaming video games? There's a big enough divide with Digital vs Physical Copy.

Don't know about the rest of the world, but here in the states Google have announced that everyone who bought stadia, or payed for anything that went with it will get a full refund for everything they purchased.

It's the Leeroy Jenkins of budgets (NOT a budget of course cos that would have to be scrutinised by the OBR)
At least I have chicken

They wrote me off like a business trip, I felt deeply misunderstood.

Poor Billy Bobbit.
EDIT: Previous jolly to New Orleans was better overall though, great place!
