I would prefer to buy a gray +2 or a 128k heatsink Spectrum. They are compatible as they are. The 128k heatsink has more speccy feeling, the gray +2 is more comfortable.

No I don't think they were actually, they all loaded on my 48k+, and there were no visable problems during gameplay once they had. -

All 128K machines have the colour bar screen which you can access with reset+break; only the +2A/+3 have the full QAZPLM test suite. I agree, it sounds like a stuck contact on the keyboard/membrane causing BREAK to be permanently on.
