    A variable inductor would be a coil with an adjustable core inside (usually something you can screw up or down). I suppose guesser means the adjustment 'knob' on top of the video modulator? (if there is one, that is).

    I have returned from my friends house and the TEA2000 is only getting 1.3vts on the 12v pin. So it looks like the TR4 s suspect as Winston as pointed out.

    Indeed thats LM317 at Conrad.
    Best thing to do would be measuring if 5V and 12V are present first, plus a thorough check of the PCB. Assuming that Spectrum is working OK on its own....
