funnily enough I've only experienced this problem with +2a's and +3, never with +2's or toastracks -

That makes sense, because in some TV sets only one of two scart sockets takes RGB. Unfortunately I have only one scart in my monitor TV.
+2A and +3 don't have composite video in their RGB socket whereas tastrack an +2 do. -
