DS XL works fine. You need an R4 card to store ZXDS on as well as the OS. The R4 card holds a micro SD card.

Ok, bought a DSi-XL, I didn't see any point in getting the 3DS. Now for an R4i-SDHC-RTC (if I can ever get my bloody card details to work).
