Do a forum search. There are _lots_ of explanations for replacing the 4116 chips with 4164 chips and the like. Replacing with SRAM is more complicated because you need additional latches - plus space is an issue. -

It is. Unfortunately it can be also bad data line. Check PCB, as I remember 3b has soldered DRAM. Otherwise you could just put 4164 chip in socket. -
