    definately, the spot fx generated in agd are ay based so it'd be completley silent silent on the 48k if it wasn't for mister beeps excellent tune

    I'm going to put an ay adapter on my 48k later to see if it'll work with it as well

    There is no need to determine it, if there is no the hardware, writes to AY registers will do nothing.

    There's also the flickery nature of the real thing where you will be able to tell between BRIGHT CYAN/BRIGHT RED and BRIGHT WHITE/BLACK on a TV because your eye is fast enough to detect the flicker, but on a smoothed emulator display you won't.
