Yes. Just because there's a lot of craptacular BASIC beeper stuff doesn't mean the sound is limited to that. The beeper should essentially be thought of as a 1 bit output device - a high enough frequency and complex sound envelops can be outputted. -

Yerz - you're wrong about the AY not being able to do that same. It essentially produces a square wave like the beeper - digital output being possibly merely by adjusting the channel amplitudes over time. -

I've found 8 different tunes across my Power House tapes. Some were on Amstrad/C64 tapes, but I expect they may have been on some of the Speccy tapes I don't have since some tunes are used more than once. -
