Steve Crow's games had the best beeper sound effects for me.
Going in a wardrobe lift in Wizard's Lair sounds great in that same way as going through a security door in Starquake does (like Paul says).

It would be interesting if the beeper routine could convert AY music from popular formats (.PT3?) to beeper tunes, thus having the same tune in both 48K and 128K builds.
