I'm pretty sure that the finished Spectrum version isn't the version that is mentioned in that article.
If you look at that preview in Sinclair User, the sprite of Pac-Man has been totally re-drawn in the final version. -

Personally I think the whole graphics engine needs re-writing from scratch, with [I]Trap Door[/I] style blocky attribute handling. The daft thing doesn't even scroll. -
