I'm not sure if the problem has something to do with write access. Fire & Ice works fine on my emulator.
What is the preferred method to boot the disk? I went straight to TR DOS mode from the Pentagon startup menu and typed RUN "boot". -

Fire and Ice needs write access to disk to work. Enable that and you should be fine. -
