Were the Frey's not the prime movers behind Thalamus Software (who produced Sanxion on the Spectrum and Delta on the C64 amongst others)? That might explain the Thalamus Books connection.

yep. programming and games here too. I typed in a lot of games from books too. So, that was partly responsible for picking up many programming tricks. In fact, there was no real conscious effort on my part to learn programming - it just happened! :) -
