    I adapted today Odins Proportional Print for ZXBC as SUB. It can write anywhere on screen, but without attributes. The sub is in the Boriel forum.

    I just posted a version of this - almost all based on Turkwel's code - over on boriel's forums; formatted for ZX BASIC.

    (And yes, Turkwel, I gave you credit for such an awesome routine).

    I believe the C compiler allows inline assembly, in an almost identical manner to Boriel's ZX Basic.

    I hadn't seen SMAX. Wow.

    I am firmly of the opinion that the speccy should be programmed in a variant of basic, though :-P

    I meant BASIC Compiler. The z88dk is fine for someone who can code in C, but I don't do so.

    Next version (1.2.6) of ZX BASIC Compiler by Boriel will have fast binary operations BAND, BOR, BNOT and BXOR, later versions also seting, reseting and testing of single bits. Already available is bitshifting. Surely worth a download.

    Removing the INT() slowed down the sort... so does inserting INT() at the start speed up the sort a tiny bit? Maybe for the first pass?
