For me is Batman from Barman the caped crusader, and i like so much any sprite of Astro Marine Corps.

Bear in mind that he was "Miner" willy - so had a helmet with headlight on.

The vertical scrolling shoot-em-up is the furthest ahead, with most of the basic scrolling, sprite + control engine up and running. I'll try and get a snapshot put up soon.
