You hadn't said anything about failed capacitors before. Did you replace them (and possibly try to determine why they had failed)? I wouldn't have even switched it on if not as it could possibly cause further damage. -

Why did they not use the +5 volts from the Spectrum edge connector? Instead the 9 volt from the Spectrum and a 7805 and some capacitors.
