I use this all the time, turn tzx into wav then burn as audio to CD. Works good.
Edit: I'm using a mini hifi rather than a portable player though. -

Weird, I always just understood the Codemasters games CD to be audio that loaded in the same way as a tape via the EAR socket, it was just smaller and cheaper than duping and selling 5 or 10 tapes. Obviously I was wrong, or did that method exist also? -
