Using the whole CF card via 8-bit IDE is actually just a software problem, I've written test routines to confirm switching to 8-bit accesses should work. It would need a new version of the ROM to support it though. -

It's basically just an SD Card image. you write it to the SD card, pop it in the host machine and reboot. Installation to an internal HDD is also pretty simple. -
