In essence you are connecting to pin 13 of the LM1889 which is the chroma output and removing chrominance from the composite signal.

By the way, just changed the lightning modell in "Yumiko" from luma to chroma. Now not the brighter colour of light is displayed, but it blends RGB values, so Magenta+Green blends to white and not stays green anymore.
