If the Timex uses 4116 RAM, it probably has a little switch mode power supply to generate the -5v/+12v supply to the memory. It's probably the coil making that noise. The Speccy does that too. -

Regarding the coil, shouldn't both TS2068s do the same noise then? One is completely silent, and the other one has a loud hissing noise that you can hear from 1ft away. -
