I have an LG 17in. TFT monitor with RGB in (actually, it's both a TV and monitor, it has composite, RGB, VGA and UHF inputs). The picture quality with a Speccy or BBC Micro is just as good as a CRT, it really is an outstanding display for 8 bit systems. -

Probably the modulator that's not working too well. Get or make a composite video cable or perhaps a SCART cable for the machine and avoid the TV signal altogether. You also get a much better quality picture, too. -
