It's possible to modify a Spectrum+ so that it has one composite video out and two audio outs WITHOUT adding transistors or other hardware, but simply soldering three copper cables in the right places.

The scart carries a composite video signal plus audio signals, so yes, it can be done. The modulator is entered by composite video, so you just need to bypass that one. Been done in the past. -

No, you can just buy a good quality Composite Video to VGA converter box (one that has an RF input). AverMedia make great converters for a reasonable price. However if you are after a clear picture then soldering is the best way to go. -

You can use an RGB scart lead with the Speccy 128 and above. They have an RGB socket on the back of them. I think you can mod a 48k to output composite video and/or svideo but I'm not 100% about that. -
