To get Composite Video you need to do some tinkering inside - remove the RF modulator and add a few components to get a composite video output. -

Probably the modulator that's not working too well. Get or make a composite video cable or perhaps a SCART cable for the machine and avoid the TV signal altogether. You also get a much better quality picture, too. -
