    I think the speccy midi is only midi out (on the +3 at least) using the standard midi commands in basic (from the play command)

    Problem with testing spectrum 128K ram in BASIC is that if any of the chips go tits up the computer won't boot. It would have to be machine code in a custom ROM only.
    On the 48 if the bottom 16K is ok it will go into BASIC.
