The trouble is that would leave a big hole in the side. Also the toastrack is basically the best thing about the sinclair 128 anyway lol. -

A 3 amp fuse means that it will allow 3 (amp) x 230 (volts) = 690 watts of power through it.
Any Speccy would indeed be toast (and not just a toastrack) if any fault caused such a current drain.
