I've not really come up with an ideal solution - double sided tape is probably the only answer, as it would only add to the costs to have the metal tabs incorporated as part of the design - plus I am not sure they will fit all spectrums! -

But as it's 99% defective in this case, you can remove it in the easy way:
Cut all pins, then desolder the pins one by one.
