I've not really come up with an ideal solution - double sided tape is probably the only answer, as it would only add to the costs to have the metal tabs incorporated as part of the design - plus I am not sure they will fit all spectrums! -

I usually heat the metal faceplate with a hair dryer. This weakens the glue in the double sided tape that keeps the faceplate attached.
