Yes, that happens on a real Speccy too. Some games were incompatible with 128k mode but loaded fine in 48k mode. Of course, a few games were also incompatible with 48k mode... and then you were stumped... :) -

Are you in 128k mode? The original Fairlight doesn't work on 128k Spectrums - even in 48k mode. The loader fails (unless you hack it). :) -
