    How is it pointless?

    I used the TZX winamp plugin for this very purpose with my +3 to get programs in for ages (before I got a 3.5" drive connected up)

    I picked up a PCW 3"->3.5" conversion kit from eBay ... , and used that for a painless +3 ... I can boot +3 games from 3.5" disks written on ... pick up a second +3 machine so I have ... one with 3" main drive and the other with 3.5"!

    Cheers, I'll check ebay out when I get home - don't have access to it whilst at work.

    As for replacing the main drive... that kinda defeats the object of being able to copy stuff from the 3" onto the 3.5" :D

    you can get some useful programs of the +3e site, for example one the MSDOS program allows you to read 720k DOS formatted disks on the +3, and MFORMAT which lets you format the 3.5" disk to a variety of different formats

    the spectrum +3 floppy drive is an amstrad 3" type, which is obsolete, however a standard 3.5" drive can be fitted as a second drive allowing you to use 720k disks, then you can copy games to the disk from the Realspectrum emulator.
