    I also remebered just now, that the 128k had a radio advert, I heard it on I.L.R (indepenedt local radio) it was a little sketch about a martial arts master being impressed with the amount of new colours on the 128k.

    About the Tape unit: I do not hear any sound from TV too, but that is common with +2, but does it load? Is the Tape unit connected to the board? If it is and it still does not load, it can be the head position or the tape electronic may be fault.
