    That is my conclusion as well. But finding the fault is not easy.
    I have lost count of the times I have gone over the connection between IC3 & 4 to CPU and ULA, and from ULA to DRAM.

    Sounds like a RAM fault to me. Finding out which one is tricky though if it's not booting to BASIC though.

    Have you access to one of Paul Farrow's ZXC3 or 4 carts, or something you can write a firmware testing image to?
