Those fade vertical bars are normal. All my spectrums have them.
Also normal is the slightly moved to the left paper (a known ULA issue, modeulator has nothing to do with it , later fixed on the 128 models). -

The faint vertical bars - I remember them on all the Spectrums I've used, right from when I was a kid. I think possibly your memory has cleaned up the image of the image you saw :-) -

One game? I'd have to say Jetpac as, like Manic Miner & Chuckie Egg, it can still hold it's own in terms of graphics & playability. It has colour clash & flicker, but managed to do it all in less that 16K.
