The missing cursor also happens in Chrome ( I'm using version 43.0.2357.130 m)  with XP. Clicking in the edit box will not show the cursor until a key is pressed. If everything is deleted from the edit box then the cursor remains. 

I've actually toyed with the idea of Advance Wars on the Speccy. One of my favourite games are Battle Isle II, so Advance Wars is very much a game that appeals to me. But man - it would be a huge task to re/demake for the Speccy.
