Thanx for the info... it does seem there are several possibilities to get the picture over to the 1084S monitor... either by splitting the CSYNC into H and V SYNC or by inverting the CSYNC signal...

You can't connect RGB output of spectrum to VGA monitor. There is a big difference in VSYNC. You need some device, called SCANDOUBLER.
